Problem:

I just noticed that I have not been calculating EHT on my employees payrolls.

Cause:

Paymate Acclaim is not setup to automatically calculate EHT. Below are instructions for setting up an EHT category.

Solution:

NOTE: Paymate Acclaim is unable to detect when to begin calculating the EHT (i.e. when the employee reaches $25,000). You will have to keep track of this manually.

Steps:

  1. Go to Setup > Payroll Categories.
  2. Select ‘ADD’, and choose ‘Payroll Tax’
  3. Choose a unique Item Number
  4. In description, put in EHT
  5. Choose an appropriate abbreviation, or use EHT
  6. Choose the appropriate province
  7. Specify the applicable percentage

 

When the company reaches the level at which the EHT should begin calculating (600,000 [2010 Ontario figure]), you will need to add this Payroll Tax category to your system.

Rate and Maximum \ Minimum contribution per year are subject to change and must be update by end user.
